Inspection of Pressure Equipment

Inspection to Pressure equipment, such as pressure vessels and various process installations, are subject to local statutory regulations. New constructed pressure equipment is to be assessed and approved by accredited bodies; in-service inspections are often in place to ascertain integrity of these potentially dangerous equipment. AIM Control Industrial Services is accredited for pressure equipment for Conformity Assessments as well as for Statutory and Voluntary Inspections. AIM Control is ISO/IEC 17020 accredited and holds several government accreditations in other countries. We also have ASME inspectors available at various locations around the world. Constructors and users of pressure equipment and vessels take advantage of our many years' experience, the modern equipment and expertise of AIM Control.

Inspections of pressure equipment are in conformity with legal provisions and (inter-)national standards. The equipment inspected includes boilers, pressure vessels and pressured systems. Pressure equipment inspections can be during the construction phase, often as part of a Conformity Assessment, or during service of the equipment, often as part of Reliability services packages or against Statutory regulations.

The object of the service during the construction phase is to carry out visual inspection of pressure equipment to confirm that they conform with purchase specifications, applicable drawings, codes or standards. The service can be supplemented by non-destructive testing of the welds, including Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant, Ultrasonic or Radiography.

The object of the in-service inspections are to provide a statutory inspection on behalf of clients owning, operating and or maintaining major industrial or research sites, as part of their reliability, integrity or risk assessment program, and to meet the legal requirements for periodical inspections. Also with in-service inspections, non-destructive testing can be a supplementary service.

AIM Control can also assist in interpreting the inspection findings, explaining the impact of the results. Furthermore, AIM Control helps to find solutions for potential problems.

Pressure Equipment Testing
Expert witness testing is one of the key steps in verifying the compliance of pressure vessels, appendages and installations to design codes like eg. EN, ASME, API, BS, DIN, AD. AIM Control Industrial Services witnesses the tests performed on pressure equipment, such as hydrostatic pressure leak testing or nitrogen pressure testing. AIM Control is the independent third party or the Conformity Assessment body, verifying that the testing method is being followed properly and that the results meet with the requirements. The object of the service is to witness the performance tests of complete equipment, on the test stand or in the field as a Factory Acceptance Test, to ascertain that required performance values are met. The service may include verification of test reports for routine tests, verification of the calibration of measuring equipment, witness test, review of performance calculations.
